Gives you extreme flexibility in dealing with unusual measurement situations. Simply place the detachable display where you can view it and put the multimeter anywhere convenient, eliminating the need to constantly move the ladder and multimeter to reach into a narrow space. Now, you can measure in places that are not accessible to effective measurement points, such as places where the machine or control panel is not in the same place as the limit or isolation switch, or in areas that are off-limits to users, such as clean rooms or hazardous areas.
