In a hlgus series f alkane enantiers, identical alpha values are bserved regardless f chain length r branching indicating nly 1 r 2 carbns ay be cntributing t chiral recgnitin. Alpha values are greatly affected by size and plarity f the head grup. Functinal grups like epxides, ain alchls and alchls can dictate the cycldextrin selectin. Aldehydes, carbxylic acids and epxides separate better n the gaa while alchls, alchl aines and ther linear lecules separate better n the beta derivative.
