When sheets and blanks are fed automatically into processing machines, it is necessary to prevent two or more sheets entering the equipment inadvertently. Otherwise the result could be damage of tools and dies, stamping presses, expensive repairs and loss of production. Double sheet detection systems are therefore a necessary part of automated sheet metal processing. This applies to highly automated production facilities in the automotive industry just as much as to the mass production of food and beverage cans.
